Egresados- just another holiday?

This week I'd like to ask you about something which you all (probably) have a close affinity with: El Viaje de Egresados. I've been hearing lots of things about them recently and one class of mine will be extremely quiet in the next few weeks because of them.

The thing is, I don't really get them. For me it's just another holiday - no better or worse than any of the other ones you all have each summer. So, I'm asking you to tell us why they're so important. And where the best Egresado destination is? Why? Isn't it just a waste of money?

Enjoy your week,

Steve

  1. The same as you, I don´t go along with the idea that "el viaje de egresados" is a high point in your life. However, it´s fair to say that a cross section of secondary students think about it in a completely different way. Many of them get his/her long-life dream and spent an unforgettable time in Bariloche, a place certainly gifted by nature, which is at the top of the student´s preferences.

I think it is all connected to a point in life when what next for students who finish secondary school is to work or to start studies in University, or both. It is like a farewell to youth and to a nice world, free of the concerns of adult life. Some are happy at such challenge, some not. And, in that context I tend to be sympathetic with them as the idea is to celebrate it big.

Many parents have to work hard to pay the trip, which is usually too expensive and this tremendous effort is only compensated by the thought that they are rewarded their sons and daughters for their effort at secondary school and make them happy.

A holiday. Yes, but for lots of young people in Argentina the most important and memorable in their life.

  2. "El viaje de egresados" it's important, because it's probably your last trip with all your friends, before you go to college.

There are two very common destinations: Brasil and Bariloche. It's depends on your taste of holidays: beach or snow. But, in my opinion the best destination is Europe.

  3. El viaje de egresados... that's definitively one of the most important milestones in a student's life. It's not just another holiday because you're supposed to party every single night with all of your friends and it's fulfilled of memories that will last forever. I went to Brasil with my friends two years ago and once in a while we talk about it and remember what an awesome time we had.

  4. I think it is a good trip because it's the last time you can be with all your senior classmates in a trip. It's a way of saying goodbye to everyone and to remember all of them in a good way. For me it is not a waste of money because you really enjoy that trip and it cost every single penny you pay.
I prefer to go to Bariloche rather than Porto (Brazil), but it depends on you. If you like being in the beach and not being in the mountain you will like Brazil.
I went there last year and everytime I can, I see the pictures and I remember everything.
I am proud to say that was the best trip ever!

  5. What an interesting subject!

Like most of my classmates said, "el viaje de egresados" is very important for a student that it`s about to finish high school. And what I mean saying that is VERY important is because they spend the hole last year thinking of it and organizing, choosing the best place, convincing their parents to pay it, etc.

What is it about? it is a trip with your friends where you go to party. I mean you party every single night in different clubs, you get drunk and sometimes, you do stupid things. And apparently this is a good feeling because you and all your friends are in the same "rythm".

The destination it depends where you come from. If you are from Buenos Aires, yes, the most common places are Bariloche and Brazil. If you are from Bariloche, you will probably go to Brasil. If you are from Patagonia (like me) you can go to Bariloche and Cordoba (definetley the best choice). Finally, if you are from Brazil, you will probably go to some place in Brazil (Yes, they don`t come to Argentina).

However, these are the most common places. If you and your friends agree, you can choose wherever you wanna go (or at least it was like this few years ago).

  6. El viaje de egresado is the end of an important stage of life, the secondary school. Time to spend and have fun with your classmates.

In general, students choose Bariloche or Brazil but some instead of living la vida loca, they prefer to do charity work in an isolete village in the north of our country.

I don´t think is a waste of money because some students do different activities such as parties or selling cakes during breaks school in order to raise money to the trip or help to a classmate who cannot afford it.

Finally, el viaje de egresados is more than a trip, is the oportunity to get to know some classmates and work as a team despite the odd.

  7. Hi! In my opinion, "el viaje de egresados" is not just another trip. Being in your last year of secondary school, you are closing a really significant and important stage of your life and "el viaje de egresados" is a part of this. It's probably, as other people said, the last time that you're travelling with those friends with who you share at least the last five years of your life.
Besides, a trip with your friends is never "another" holiday.
Personally, I don't like the idea of going to Bariloche or Brazil with a company that supposedely organizes you everything. However, I'm going to Villa Langostura in two weeks for my "viaje de egresados" and it will be 10 days to chill out, make some excursions as visiting the "bosques de Arrayanes", and why not going to Bariloche some night to dance. I'm hoping to have an unforgettable time!

  8. I don`t think it isn`t just another trip, cause it`s the last one with you whole division (or a big apart of it). Although, from my point of view, the best destination is the clasic Bariloche, with its dancing clubs, and snow excursions, I`m with the ones who clime for a lower prize for this fantastics trips.
